School By: Jonathan L. My dreams slow down and my eyes open slightly checking for the rise of a new morn. My eyes may notice the glorious waves of light yet my heart sees the dark clouds of pain and hate. I apply my armor and stroll down the stairs as if I was in an elaborate death march. I grab hold of my large sack of literature and place my musical ear coverings around my neck. The air feels thick as I inhale heavily knowing of the hell I must return to. Slowly I open my castle’s gate and wonder to the other side and march to the place where no child hopes to go. After waiting for what seemed like a century my enormous yellow death carriage comes. I sit alone watching the zombie like faces of poor victims march onto the carriage hoping not to lose their souls. The carriage approaches the prison and all of us stare blankly hoping we did not forget what we learned the other day. As I take my last step off the carriage I see the wave of victims in their death march and I join them. As I enter the jail I try not to breathe too deeply for even the very air can corrupt you. The day turns to night as the first hour starts. The morning slows down as the sentence goes on for this morn. The sentence is over and the carriage picks us up once again except this time we are going home. Once off the carriage I laugh while walking home glad I have not became corrupt. I unlock my gate and enter the castle, waiting for the next day... |
