Once there was a little bear named Edward. Edward was afraid of everything?

When thunder rumbled, Edward shivered and shook, hiding under his covers.
When night came with its twinkling stars, Edward closed his eyes tight and cried for his mummy.
When late night trains came past the house or the wind blew, Edward cried in fear "What was that?" and jumped into mummy and daddy's bed.

At first mummy and daddy hugged Edward bear and made him feel better, but soon
Mummy bear said "go back to bed Edward bear, you've had a drink, I've read a story, I've tucked you in. Go back to bed."

And daddy bear said "go back to bed Edward bear, I've chased the monsters and sung you songs, I need to sleep. Go back to bed."
Edward bear went back to his bed but could he sleep? No he could not!

Night after night Edward bear, came into his mummy and daddy's bed and mummy bear said "Edward bear! Go back to bed, it's late I'm tired. You have your light; you have your toy. Go back to bed."

And daddy bear said "Edward bear! Go back to bed, I have to work, just lie awake if you can't sleep. Go back to bed."
Edward bear went back to his bed but could he sleep? No he could not!

Edward bear didn't know what to do, he tried staying in his own room but it was dark and scary in there...and was that a monster moving in front of the curtain?and who was that tap, tap, tapping at the window. Edward bear hid under the blankets and cried and cried, until he couldn't stand it anymore. Then Edward bear came out. He crept quietly, quietly into mummy and daddy's bed. Mummy was asleep; daddy was asleep. Edward bear gently, gently crawled into the blankets and was going to sleep when he heard mummy say. "Go back to bed, Edward bear I've had enough!  It may sound cruel, but you must learn and so go back to bed."

And he heard daddy say "Oh! No, No not again, Edward bear go back to bed!"
Edward bear went back to his bed but could he sleep? No he could not!

One night when Edward bear had crept into his mummy and daddy's bed once again!
Mummy did not say, "Edward  bear go back to bed."
Daddy did not say, "Edward bear go back to bed.
Instead daddy bear told a story.

Once there was a little bear who was scared and small
But everyday he's growing and getting really tall
And everyday he's braver, this we can clearly see
Soon he will be brave enough; like mummy, just like me
The storms that bring the rain and wind, will be welcomed in
Whenever he remembers just how brave he's been
And the wind that tap, taps on the pane at night
Will not make our Edward cry, he listens without fright
The shadows in the darkness, will not scare at all
As Edward bear sees starlight of summer and of fall
Cause everyday he's growing and everyday he learns
Things that take the fright away and what makes it return
Mummy has a magic stone she had when she was scared
It's time to pass it onto him, so he'll know how much we care.
So take the stone and think on it at times that you were brave
It will help us all to rest and our sleep to save

Then mummy hugged him and gave him the stone. Daddy hugged him and sang him a song.
Daddy carried him back to bed and told him how proud he would be when Edward bear would spend the whole night in his own bed.

Edward bear held the stone, and remembered he was growing.
Edward bear looked at his night-light and saw the shadows in his room, then he looked out the crack in his curtains and saw it was the moon.
Edward bear heard the tap, tapping on his window. He clutched the magic stone and went to look, there was a tree, tapping to get in.
Edward bear smiled to himself and then he laughed, he was brave he thought, he just didn't know it.

Edward bear climbed back into his bed but could he sleep?  Oh Yes!

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Keth darling sister of my heart and holder of the moons light, oh my stars what can I say, except this is gorgeous and so well written. You know darling heart that lately your writing has truly grown to be incredible. You have talent, well you’ve always had that, but something else darling heart, you have something else. You are reaching deeper and up until now untapped streams of talent.

This is as always from you an absolutely brilliant piece of writing. Writing for children is very hard, you manage to do it brilliantly, and without condescension which is very very hard

Autie Kethp you are as mum says an excellent writer, I may like mum be biased but your writing is really good. Few people can actually write children’s stories without talking down to them, you can

Well done I love this writing of yours
