I woke up this morning to a different world.   I wasn't quite sure why, and then, I remembered.  I remembered as the clock radio blared out at me at 6:30 AM this morning.  Blared out at me with the news that I thought that I had dreamed, "THE WORLD TRADE CENTER IS NO MORE. . . "

As the reporter went over the events of the day, I couldn't help but think if I had actually been awake yesterday.  Did I really go to work yesterday morning?  Did I really hear someone say, "A plane hit the World Trade Center"?  Did I really pass out newspapers yesterday afternoon to people who wanted to know more about this?  Was I really alive?

But, I realize now that I was alive, and that I did go through my day yesterday.  I realize that yesterday, in four fail swoops out of the sky, my world changed.  Our world changed.  I saw two of the tallest buildings in the world, buildings that stood tall and strong, buildings that were meant to withstand the power of a 747. . . I saw them fall.  And, as they fell, they took with them not only the steel and concrete used to build them; they took with them the lives and hearts and minds of thousands of people. People who cannot be replaced.  Husbands and wives, mothers and fathers, sons and daughters, friends and neighbors.

People.

People who may never be given a proper burial, for they have been buried already.  Buried by those who have decided that freedom is something to be taken away.  Buried by those who would use terror to achieve their means, rather than by calm, rational thought.  Their tombstone, the mighty twin towers of the World Trade Center; their graveyard, New York City, one of the largest cities in the world; their epitaph?  Well, that remains to be written, but let us hope that it does not contain the words "first casualties of the war."

Now, I'm not saying that we shouldn't bring those responsible for this travesty of human life to the justice that they deserve.  I'm just hoping that the price of vengence doesn't come with the ultimate price tag. Because it's a price that I'd rather not pay.  Innocent lives have already been lost, let's not lose more.  Because the scales of life aren't balanced with death.

That being said.  Let us mourn, let us grieve, let us pray.  Not only for ourselves, but for this world that we live in.  Let us pray that tomorrow morning, the world will be ours again.

And that peace will be ours.

Thank you all my friends. . . God bless each and every one of you. . .
