The wonder dog She was found in Massachusetts as I was looking for a great friend. I have a disability called Reiger’s Syndrome it has to do with my face, and I can’t walk. So my parents said, "Oh you should have a special neads dog". In November of 1995 my older sister, my mom and me of course went to the training place in Prinstin Mass. I met with many dogs to see what ones would be good for me and all that, I remember saying "sit, stay" over and over again. They said "she’ll be on the waiting list and they are usually long" It was February of 1996 my family and I were watching Oprah and it was a dog special, and we herd the phone ring. It was N.E.A.D.S, they said "we found Minna a dog, her name is Lucy and she will start training with her in two weeks". I was screaming because I was so happy that I was going to have a dog of my own, so when my dad got home from work I told him that they found me a dog and her name was Lucy he seemed very happy. Two weeks went by fast. So it was before winter break, and I was happy that I got an extra week off. I’d learn how to work with Lucy what things I’d have to say to her. When I got home mostly everyone was there, soon my dad would come home and see there was a new member of our family. So as he walked in the house Lucy was they’re greeting him with her tail wagging, my dad said "Hi Lucy". She cried all night because she missed her dog friends the trainer told us. It took me a while to get to know Lucy because she was a big dog, it was the end of the week training. So over my vacation it was my 13th birthday but I got one present early that was Lucy, we had to graduate from N.E.A.D.S. We were at Holy Cross College, they’re sat many dogs, owners. I didn’t know we had to say something when we got up there, I was shy. After everyone went up on stage there was a slide show, of the dogs in training and owners. I said to my dad "Lucy was sent from GOD, just like me" he smiled and said "yup she sure was". Soon the summer came, and my sister Miia and I were eating grapes we turned around Lucy had turned over the bowl of grapes! So my dad and I were making somores and she was looking at the marshmallow so my dad said here eat it, she couldn’t eat it! My dad put her to the test to see how well she’d do in the mall. So he said "Minna, Lucy I’ll meet you here in a half hour", I said "Lucy come, Lucy stop, Lucy heal" first stop was CVS and everyone said, "can we pet her?" I said sure, they loved her. It was a half-hour and my dad was standing there and he looked so happy. My dad and I went into the pet store and Lucy loved it in there all the dog’s in the cages were barking like crazy, my dad got her a pig ear because she worked so good. When we went to the van Lucy was very tired, but her tail wagged I asked her "are you happy?" she acted like a puppy. My mom would talk her walking and then there was a little pond was Lucy would go, she’d only stick half her body in. Sometimes my dad would spoil her by given her pancakes, doughnuts. My dad got very sick one night and ended up in the hospital, Lucy looked for him the next morning I said he’s not here. Every morning she’d look for him and couldn’t find him, so when I went to visit him I said, "Dad Lucy’s lost without you" he said, "give her a big hug". On a day that I couldn’t take it anymore I started talking to Lucy how I felt, and she put her head on my knee. Later on that night my mom came home and the pastor they told me that my dad passed away of colon cancer. Ever since then Lucy’s been looking for him but cannot find him. In January of 2001 I went into so much pain I was crying, Lucy was sitting in front of the phone. So finally I said "I’m calling 911" I was talking to this person and he said "Can you get to the door?" I said, "no, I have a dog who will great the EMT'S". I made it to the door and right when I opened it Lucy was first to greet them they said "Hi Lucy, how are you". I was in so much pain Lucy came and kissed me, they thought she was so cute. Soon I was ready to go to the hospital I was so scared so Lucy came on one side of the stretcher and put her head on my arm and gave me the look like "your going to be okay". I told them put her in her cage they did that. Now Lucy has her own email address because she got to many in my mail box so I said it’s going to be the wonder dog. People email her there’s one little girl Britney and she loves her. People who she doesn’t even know love Lucy; somehow she’s my "pet healer" My Special friend She never tells lies She never tells the truth either She can’t talk Lucy enjoys adventure She loves attention She loves the Internet Lucy isn’t a human friend She’s a dog friend Who is loved by all By Minna 18 It's hard seeing someone loving your ex, when it's your ex friend who's loving him. |
