This one is set sometime in the future.  It's based on my fear that we will simply accept the Darwinian concept of living life, and then simply assume that we are to throw off morality.  I apologize if I seem to be portraying women as being prostitutes.  The point here was to convey the atmosphere of moral defeat that I fear will come about in the near future.  IE, the idea that men have nothing to lose from sex and so women ought to take advantage of that for financial gain.  This will inevitably lead to a people, regardless of their gender, not taking responsibility for their actions.

The man stood in front of his lover, and both embraced in the cold of that september night.  In behind was the comforting glow of the city lights of an oppressive world.

The man looked beside him, toward those infernal crystal things that he had to return to.  Then he looked back at his lover.  The woman, tears in her eyes, said "goodbye" for the last time.  Soon she would find comfort in the embrace of the chief of law enforcement, or perhaps a lawyer.  Such was the way of the world of the humans.  Sacrifice your dignity and humanity and live.  Preserve them and die.

The man turned from the sight of his lost lover.  He looked on toward those buildings again.  They shone so beautifully, glittering with comforting technological regularity.  They were pretty to the uneducated.  But like a glittering termite mound, they were deadly inside.  Deep within the inviting glowing walls of glass, concrete and steel was a world of corporate warfare and moral defeat.

Thanks, all for your replies.  I am glad that you liked the idea.  I always worry that my more 'politically' inclined writing will create some animosity toward me, lol.

I'm glad this worked out well.
