Colour Your World

Drake takes his crayon box and flips open the top. A slow smile arches his mouth as the scent alone takes him years away when colours were primary and hues meant layers over layers of life's little moments pressed to paper in a thick coating by a hand yet to learn care.

With a broad bold stroke he affixed a horizon to reach for. Then 'tween he and it he poured an aqua blue ocean, and as an afterthought took the opal white from the box and dove in to paint pearls at the bottom as to always have something to seek for comfort when his horizon was a tad out of reach.

The first two were easy, and if carbon dated, they would age 3 and 10. The others at the moment simply shimmer and await a nuance yet attached, though one a hand stroked a hint of forest green along its surface before his wandering mind arrived.

Then above he looked, and the choice was easy. Carolina blue, with just enough ecru to break the monotony and make it appear as if the sky is always almost within a stretching grasp.

But wait, the foundation for mind's sky must first be laid. Caressing with care, chiaroscuro lines tempered glass inside this gazing ball -- reflecting silvered linings in images long forgotten yet kept ever near.

Looking out in the direction he has chosen as crayon box is closed the reflecting spirit finds a smile once more, having remembered the simple joy of laying on the floor with a tiny blonde reminder of all that is good and colouring a world that he was never allowed to see in simple black and white.

                    Part 2

Savour the Simple Pleasures

Reaching for his gazing ball, Drake lifts it reverently to eye level and with blue gray intensity seeks vision beyond his own reflection. Inside he feels the aqua shift as in a snow globe filled with mercury of laden intent, coating a sacred world with silver striations that cling cloyingly and then move on at the tilt of an axis unforeseen.

Yet he knows that within and below still glow his imagery of ecru blue and mother's green.
Placing orb back to stand and pacing back for clearer view, he watches the sky change reflected behind him from a daze self imposed as to see out he must first find the angle to look within.

From hazy amphitheater he watches stars give sigh to midnight black and kiss with knowing twinkle the white bright flicker glowing within mind's eye.
With a golden-yellowed hiss the last rays fade into depths of liquid oceanic blue and as light within finds hue of light without a world comes into view.

As with a dream a dreamer places characters of colour on a sphere of imagination and offers unconscious plot. Who will know if dreamer leads dream or if the nocturnal wanderer is by inner musings led? Who will say that imagination has no place and devoid a world of colour ne'er to allow midnight black to break with pale arms reaching streaks of purpled orange to gather a lost mind to dawn again?

Colour me delusional but give me hues in vast array to break the monochrome of my day. Allow me to touch pink and smile, to caress rose and know of thorns but reach with care of mine own accord. Grant me cones and rods without lashes and watch the rainbow kiss the scope of the heaven too often graced with hell.

Let me look down and feel the squish of artist's clay awaiting a hand to mold a world of own making afore into a kiln tossing merely mass and praying beauty will emerge.

Given whatever into this world of inner ponderence is placed baked by sun's golden passings to decorate with joy my day, allow me to my own vessel paint with silvered tongue along the pale flesh of mine own fantasy a spectral fest of pixeled passion to drape along a table too oft laden with naught but black and white.

Lovely use of colours (note the 'u') and imagery. I enjoyed it EW.
