highways, & byways, for now

                "MY HEARTBREAK"

I lay here in this cold lonely bed, in the still of the morning's dim light, with my thoughts only of you.  I can see your sensuous smile, as you once lay beside me, feeling the warmth of your softness.  Your fragrance still fills the air, but alas, now there's no one there.

I rise and walk towards the open window of my room, stare into the dim light, and bow my head, as I know only heartbreak.  For in this gentle early morning rain, I know that I will never see you again.  The visions that I have of you in my mind slowly fade from my memory.  I still listen for a sign from you, but in return I can hear only the stillness, as my anguish fills me, my sadness torments me, and my forlorn beseeches me.

I see through the rainy mist the tranquil green forest, and feel that I am in a trance.  I can still feel your loving embrace, but now I can't feel your warmth. I feel your tenderness, but my body feels naught.  I feel my fingers run through your long hair, but now they touch only emptiness.  I feel the gaze of your gentle eyes, but I am blind. I feel the kiss of your soft tender lips, but the taste is gone forever. I feel your breasts against me, but I no longer know their softness. I can feel you as you lie next to me, but you're not there.  I feel your passions, but now I know them not.  I feel  your tenderness, as we make love, but now I feel only the hollow bareness.

And now another night passes without you. What happened to us my darling, how could you ever leave?  I remember, as I lay here in this cold lonely bed, in the still of the morning's dim light, your warmth and your softness, and I think only of you.

Oh my...I promised myself I wouldn't read anything sad with my Jim away and I have read both of yours in a short time span. *june grabbing the kleenex*.

This is lovely, Bill.
Welcome to the Passions family!

Keep writing...I'll keep the kleenex near and keep reading.

MagnoliaBlue,
Thank you so much for the kind words. I love to write, and then have someone else read what I have written. Writing and being able to bring out someones emotions to the surface is so rewarding to me. I have written 10 poems and 7 short love stories since May 1, 2000, which I will post over the next few weeks. Please read them, as I believe some are quite touching, and not all of them as sad as this one.

Thanks again,
Bill Charles
