They were very young when they first danced. He was a very shy lad and she was a tender beauty. They were almost two inseparable people who spent their days just dancing with no worries or cares. Eventhough their homes were far apart they come to the same place everyday and danced together. It was a blissful journey for them,when they felt they have each other to hold and love. It was an ecstatic moment for them. Then one night they were togther alone at his place and for the first time he felt she could be more than his dancing partner. She also felt almost the same way. He was inconfident as he was awestruck by the way she made him feel. She was almost like a star to him. Then they caressed and they kissed eachother. She was at ease but to Caprio it was a sort of desperate need. It lasted a few minutes and she left suddely without a word. Next morning he came with the same elation to meet her. He came to know that she had left to some unknown place for some unknown reasons. His heart was shattered totally and he even went to the extent of killing himself. He assumed that there was some unstoppable reason for her leaving and decided strongly not to commit suicide for if he dies the hope of meeting her also would die. He kept himself busy at all times and in his solitude he recollected the beautiful moments of dancing with her. He painted beautiful portraits of her eventhough she was not with him anymore. He had some crushes with a few women in his lonely years but Kate always remained in his mind though as a distant hope. One of his friends opened a warehouse at Michingan and hired Caprio for his skilled artisanship. He opened an art exhibition of his own. That evening the most beautiful thing happened. She came to see his art exhibit and he was astounded by her presence. She came along with another man who she introduced to Caprio as his future husband. He glanced at both of them and wished them all the best in their future life as he felt that if his Kate has made a choice in life he should support it. He also felt that this person can make her more happier than himself. Then they spent some mornings together and discussed what they did while they were apart. But none of them disclosed the agony they felt being away from eachother as they felt every moment they share should be joyous. Then on a rainy day she told him that she is going to get married next week at a nearby church. He felt nauseatic but he congratulated her and wished her a happy wedded life. He wondered what could be wrong with their relationship. Why di she say about her wedding to him? Why they can't be together ? She had a definite reason behind her actions. When she left him she wanted him to be a person who is sure of himself, a confident person who does not feel inferior when he held her and a person with whom she can share all the moments in this journey of life. Even now when she told him about her marriage she wanted him to take her as his bride as a strong person and not to kneel before her and plead for her love. She didn't like to make him his slave rather she would live away from him and wish him all the good things in life. She was the person behind all his art exhibits. But she didn't mention even a word to him. That night he felt terrible and he ran to the party which was organized before their wedding and he took her hand and they danced in front of everyone. To some it mean't treachery but to the people who knew about them it was a sweet romance. Then that night they made love to eachother, moments of ignited passion kept concealed for so many years. They were just a single mind and body that night. She told him that she had to leave for her aunt's place and after that they will marry. He waited for a week and then went to her aunt's place and she told him that Kate had married and left to France. He was confounded with dismay and he was totally heartbroken. He had no hope left. He felt he didn't have any purpose left in life. He had an old and ailing Grandma who needed some care. So he took care of her and once in a while he visited the place where they danced first. Oneday while he was in deep thought he saw a cute little girl running around the place and she reminded him of Kate a lot. He felt that he was dreaming. Then he followed her to the nearby shore facing the vast expanse of sea. He saw the silhoutte of a woman adorned by the sun's glistening rays. There he saw Kate. She still reamined the same young girl to him. She told him that girl he saw was her child and she was divorced. She also told him that she was thinking about him a lot lately. He didn't ask anything about her past years. She asked " Will you forgive me for what I did to you ' He told her " Didn't you know me at all " They held their hand facing the horizon which reaminded them of their relationship for he was like the sea and she was the sky above him, both of them finally met at the horizon. In reality it never exists but in this love horizon was finally reached and nothing more mean't much to them than each other. Sincerely A_L |
