The afternoon hours slowly drifted into a shadow of evening with the storm slowly subsiding. Without radio contact, Kathleen and Frank had little knowledge, nor concern of the import of what was really happening around them. They only knew inside, inside the walls, they felt safe. Even the sounds of the wind and sea brought a calmness to an otherwise tormented landscape of disaster and destruction.

It was now well into the evening, and very dark, except for the candle burning. Scrap had supplied the lighthouse well.

Safety was very important to Kathleen. She was enjoying the feeling of safety and of time that had since ceased, at least to her it had. Frank had been extremely attentive in fulfilling her wishes, as if to descend upon her in storybook fashion. Every woman wanted a hero, but yet Kathleen didn't really want a hero.
She simply wanted someone whom she could trust and with whom she felt safe.

She wanted someone who could certainly give credence to her emotions, her feelings, not making her feel she need to prove herself, or live up to certain standards. Always expecting those she cared about the accept what she had to offer, Kathleen always gave too much, and yet she had to, it was her design.

Thoughts of the storm crept into her conscious thoughts and she fought them back. She didn't want to think about any of it. Only of the time now, and the feeling of warmth and love she felt. Only that.

She knew Frank and herself were no longer children. No longer innocent of the world and the threats of storms so many face even as children. To Kathleen, to be a child meant life should be safe, kept from the torrent of wind, and rain. She remembered playing inside on rainy days, and the feeling of a sanctuary, much like she felt at thie moment. Only she was usually alone, now she was not alone, and she felt blessed not to have to endure this alone.

Frank had known he would find her, even from the very beginning. He had not intended on circumstances reaching the point of where they wre now but yet, somehow in the back of his mind, he had entertained the idea.

"No, I won't take advantage of her" he had told himself. And he hadn't. Instead he was loving her.

The first kiss was as a drop of rain on two parched souls. Nothing could stop the heavy pour of emotion that followed. Nothing. Matching only in intensity with the velocity of the elements, she and Frank had matched each other breath for breath in giving and receiving the most exquisive kisses she ever experienced.

Frank teased her and as he continued doing so, he would pretend to kiss her, then pull back, she would laugh, or blush, and he would finally give in and take her mouth gently with his own. The feeling of it made her dizzy. She enjoyed that.

Where he was kissing her now, not only made her dizzy but she felt intoxicated. Never in her wildest dreams had she felt such pleasure. He seemed relentlessly enjoying catering to her, knowing, he must know she was fighing consciousness with every minute he continued.

Kathleen wanted to pull him up, closer, and yet he would whisper "In a minute, there's plenty of time, I'm enjoying this, lie back"

Not used to relaxing, not used to receiving and not used to feeling so completely free to enjoy herself, Kathleen felt like a little girl on a swing.

Higher and higher she wanted to soar through the air, almost reaching heavenward. Almost touching the stars. She felt she was truly flying. His hands held her gently, she knew he had a tender side, he just kept it well hidden. Frank thought she hadn't sensed it, but indeed she had.

"Frank, your breath, your mouth there....it feels wonderful. I've never felt this way, it feels almost forbidden"

"I want you to hold me closer"

Kathleen could only speak with labored breath. She reached and pulled him closer to her, wrapping her arms around him as if she were holding on to a liferaft.

Frank was also holding onto a liferaft. he thought he hadn't needed this, and he fought it, he tried to stay focused, but it was impossible. Perhaps he was simply caught up in the ambiance of the scene, to the longing and the almost innocent feel of her touch. No, he was being held together by threads of love, undeniably so.

Whatever it was, it was capitvating. She had seen too much, for her touching and her holding him had reached into places he was only discovered were very much alive.

The air was filled with serenity. The blankets were wrapped tightly around them. The storm within their hearts was dying out.

Frank reached up and gently drew a portion of her hair into his fist to bring her face within a breath of his lips and whispered to her "I love you, I truly do"
and he kissed her.

Nice narration of the precious moments. Storm outside, light house, a different storm in the souls...

Check out for the spellings though!

You could actually expand it further too.

regards - sudhir.

Take each day as it comes,
Consider each day as a flight,
Try hard to succeed and fly,
Surely then you will reach some height.

But if by some chance you don’t,
Remember that tomorrow will always come.
Learn this well and learn this hard
That today’s efforts will pay for tomorrow’s fun.

knows also that it is the sea."Daniel
