Life seems so artificial lately.  We smile because we're told to, we cry because it's cool.  Seriously.  If you're not moody and depressed every second of every day, you're not in.  I'm sorry.  You're just not with it.
Every day, we go through the motions of normalacy.  Artificially.  Artificial smile, artificial wave.  "How are you?"  "Great, never been better."  Artificial nod.  Artificial conversation, artificial goodbye.  And then comes the sad part.  Artificial tears.  Tears of pearl, that look like they mean so much... but they mean nothing at all.
A farce.  Artificial.
We're all so pre-planned.  This is expected of us, so we do it.  No questions.  Just acting out the parts we were given in a movie where we don't even know the script.
Don't even know our role.
Don't even know ourselves.

Sometimes it's only too true that all our contact with human's is purely artificial.  The people you can touch soul to soul, heart to heart, the ones where you can get past the artificial, those are the ones you have to hold onto.  Good writing here, I enjoyed this.< !signature-->

dear hope,

though it's easy to feel blinded by the chaos and mind-numbing conformity of this world, do not fall into the trap of shutting your eyes against all of those individuals that have attained true independence and understanding of the self.  i tend to consider myself one of these individuals, and since my enlightening moment during which i realized the necessity to think and act according to my own personality and worldviews i have met many others much like myself.  individuals who were veiled from me previously due to my clouded mindset.  not all humanity is "artificial", in fact there are a great deal who are not.  i guess what i'm trying to say is -- welcome to our family

sincerely,
the beautiful freak

I know what you say here!  I feel like this some days too.  It is as if we are all living in an artificial world with...(well I think you know the rest!)

I couldn't say it any better than Abe did.
I liked what you wrote and how you wrote it.

I enjoyed your piece a lot.  The message holds true in some situations.  We often dont' show our true face even if we want to. Thanks for sharing your talent.

Sometimes the most important things can't be seen with the eyes, but are rather felt with the heart.
