I stand slacking...cold and thin out on the Harlequin streets; wrapped in the night's infinite opaque seams. Quietly I observe all my brothers and sisters, with wondering tear-scarred eyes. Listen to all the silent prayers being spoken by broken tongues, from frozen hearts.

It is not a release from these collossal chains of humanity I seek. Only clarity...A few silent moments...Three seconds of gazing into the dazzled eyes of someone who understands completely.(A solid bit of solitude, could clear this cluttered mind.)

I send my gaze to beauty, hard and soft, light and dim; search deeper for the very center of the beautiful soul. But it's always the body; the sweet odors of perfume and persperation. The languid scents which hang in the air, and make it thick with human interaction.

And still everyone casts on me, their bleake eyes. Pierce my light with shadows, and stand me there alone. This makes it easier to forget it's me...pondering us all. I'm the one sorting through this mosaic of human mistakes trying to uncover where we went wrong. All the while they sit in a B.M.W., or faceless coffee shop, or behind some desk a mindless machine. Making a living by slaughtering their souls. Clogging up their ARTeries. Choking their precious freedoms with ropes of conformity. I'm a proud poet. Crouched in my dark corner, putting character to name.

But in the end...I'll sell out. I'll trade Pearl Jam and Davis, for Journey and Bheethoven. The rebel, with time, always becomes the opressor. My generation will close the gap. The Lost Boy will find his way home; back to Father's open arms...and "I told you so" kisses.

This is good ( a few minor spelling errors) but overall, I really enjoyed the imagery....

Beautifully written J.L., I have to agree with PdV that the imagery was great.  I also like the line "A solid bit of solitude..." Just found that one interesting.  Keep up the writing, love to see more of you

j.l.h: this is very vivid and full of intriguing imagery... i particularly liked the line "Pierce my light with shadows, and stand me there alone"... you do well playing with words in this piece... overall, a magically delicious part of your complete prose breakfast...

sincerely,

 Disarm you with a smile
And leave you like they left me here
To wither in denial
The bitterness of one who's left alone
