Each step I take, one after the other, crunches down the brown prairie grass which smells of morning dew. Each step, makes me breath heavier and deeper, the morning air so crisp and cold, stinging the nostrils, piercing the lungs.  The heavy breathing makes my heart pound like it might explode in my chest, my blood races through my veins and pulses at my temples and finger tips triggering goose bumps on my cold moist skin. My throat and lips begin to dry and ache as my breathing is more labored, just a few more steps, push, come on! Keep pushing! Almost there!. The cold air so dizzying, my head is spinning, need to blow my nose it so cold, I stop, I am here!
I then gaze toward the east where my eyes meet the giant rising orange ball of light beginning to pierce the cool night’s darkness, casting a golden glow upon the prairie grass, chasing the black night away. Then like a symphony the sky suddenly lights up like no Fourth of July ever could, with colors streaming out into the horizon. Purple, red, pink, blue and orange, the brilliance of colors surpass any man could conceive. The clouds so puffy and large, resemble a beloved fat aunt, are pushed by the warm air following the sun mixing and folding the clouds reflecting the light into different color hughes. The spectectal wakes the birds from shivering slumber, and they hurriedly fly in groups like schooling fish toward the warming rays of sun to dry their dewy wings.
The sun so bright, almost stabbing to the eyes, I feel so alive and awakened by the beauty beyond words, touching the depths of the soul with colorful rejuvenation.  I take a deep breath, turn and look down the steep hill I climbed, and see my wife standing on our deck, sipping coffee out of her precious imported bone china cup, and I wonder, how she could think a morning walk is boring!

Ditto Christopher here.  What a wonderful picture you've painted!  I can almost see it before me now.  Beautiful!

  Wow Geo:

excellent choice of words and images. As I was reading your piece, I could picture each step in my mind.  I re-read your piece three times, as it is just captivating.  Applause!
It takes a lot to impress me and I am impressed.  This is a work of art, and I say this because an artist can bring a painting to life, you have brought your morning walk to life with such vivid descriptions and words.  You have made even the simplest of joys seem grand.  Thanks for sharing.  I look forward to more work from you.  I think i'll gor for a walk now.  And defiantely keep writing, you have a great talent.

Take care,
Melissa Honeybee
