Big Paulie was a junkie. He was fat, and sweaty, and he stunk. Paulie's stench wasn't the average human body odor; it was the kind of overpowering aroma that one could only attain through weeks of filth and sweating off cocaine. I can remember he loved to smile; all crooked and mangled, with his four front teeth missing. Paulie smiled at everything life, death, prison, freedom, sex, and God; Paulie smiled at it all. And his smile was evocotave of his soul, showed the world how he viewed it and himself; "It's all gonna be awright. No matter what them prophets and tellers says."
