Alright...I'm posting this for two reasons...
1. My son brought it up in his poem in the open forum.
2. Just felt like I should poke my head in here and say hi to Chris....see if he's doing the job...LOL

MVP

MVP  Most Valuable Player.  Last Saturday I watched my 8 year old son play his heart out in a school flag football game.  One interception, one sack, five flags pulled.  My son was given a MVP certificate after the game.  I, as a father, was naturally proud beyond words.  I guess as parents there is no greater fulfillment than the accomplishments of our children.

Driving home that day while talking about the game and the award in particular,  Mikey looked up at me with his big, innocent brown eyes and asked, "Daddy, what does MVP stand for."  I explained to him that it was an award given to the person who's achievements had meant the most.  He aptly responded by saying, Daddy, you're my MVP  I could do nothing but hug him, with teary eyes.

In a world of constant negativity I saw a light that day.  I realized that no matter how little time I get to spend with my son, it's what I make of that time that matters.  I realize that Mikey at his tender age needs more than anything in the world a Daddy who'll spend quality time with him a recognize his achievements, just as I did from my father.

Mikey, I'm so very proud of you, my son.  You play with guts and determination and a zestful passion your Daddy only wishes he still possessed.  The same characteristics I've watched you present in everyday life as well.  Don't ever lose these qualities my son.  Stand tall for who you are and always believe in yourself.  There really is nothing you can't achieve my son.  Mikey, You'll always be my MVP as well.

Well, now - How could anybody top that one?  Michael, it's obvious to me that you spend lots and lots of quality time with your son.  You both have good reason to be proud of each other.... and I'm proud to call you my friend.....

Michael...words cannot describe the way this makes me feel. I sure wish all fathers and sons were M.V.P.'s to each other. You two have such a special bond. It must be the "quality" time spent with each other. I am so happy for both of you. To me you are both M.V.P.'s

You are indeed one of our MVP's my friend. Your heart and talent bless us with such grace, style and meaning. Your's is one of the few truly giving souls in the world. For that, it is we who are lucky to have you playing on our team!

It is a humbling thing to know your child's world revolves around you my friend, humbling to any parent I think.

You well deserve the words of praise those above have given, but I must truly echo Lady deVine.
