Have you ever taken the time just to watch people? In the midst of this holiday chaos
you can gleen much about life and love, mystery and innocence. My preparations for the
coming holidays are through, so I took the time to sit in the mall and watch. People passed
by, some hurried and some thoughtful. You can tell the ones on a mission and the ones
looking for just that right something.

I sat myself down by the Santa display. Ahh the wonder I saw there; children lined up
to sit on the jolly ones lap. Innocence of children at this time of year is what it is all about.
The little faces lit up in anticipation of speaking to St. Nicholas, the wonder in their eyes
as they draw closer. Some even loose their nerve when their turn comes. You see, Santa is
such a man of awe and respect for the innocent. They all, in the end, tell him their wildest
dreams in the few seconds they are perched on his knee. The Airplane or race car, barbie
of easy bake oven; for in these small things are dreams of their future. Do you remember
flying that airplane through your basement or back yard? Remember you imagination
taking you around in world in a matter of a half an hour. The war you fought in your back
yard with the neighbor kids when you were 8? The dragons you slew and the princess you
rescued from the cardboard castle? The dreams of the young, the innocent, you can see
them alive in their eyes as they speak to the jolly man himself.

Then, in the corner of my eye, I caught a motion. I turned to see what it was. There in
the crowded mall two long lost souls reunite. There is a joyous commotion as they talk
and hug with enthusiasm. Packages forgotten for a moment as the bond is reaffirmed.
With tears in their eyes they move to the cafe for coffee and remembrance. I look around
this place of commerce with a smile on my face. Even in this rush and bustle of Christmas
tide the true meaning of the season is not lost. It is truly a time for friends and family.
Rekindling something that you had lost touch with because of busy lives. Letting people
near and dear to you know true how you feel about them.

Underneath my Christmas tree this year there will be a package wrapped in beautiful
paper and ribbons. When you open it and look inside you will  see it empty, but it will be
over flowing. It will be filled past capacity with love and dreams and thoughts of you my
friends. With out each and everyone of you I would not be complete. With out your love
and support through the time we have known eachother I would not be who I am. I wish
for you everything you heart could desire and more this holiday season. Under your
Christmas tree, where ever it is, you will find a box wrapped in beautiful paper and
ribbons. It will be from me and it will be full of love and support. You will have to look
very carefully and with your heart, not your eyes. Merry Christmas to all........and to all a
good night.

Beautiful sentiment Marilyn.  I especially enjoyed this piece, and such a wonderful expression of the Christmas spirit and love.  And your little story about innocent children and their amusements brought back many happy memories.. thank you

Beautiful Marilyn. I am glad to see that the true Christmas spirit has not been lost after all, though it seems in today's world that it has. Thank you for the Christmas wish and the smile you have brought to my face this night.

And Merry Christmas to you as well, may it hold your wildest dreams this year.

Terri
