Purgatorial Incarceration

... Of thoughts from an otherwise empty mind.
Michael's always telling me that he'd lke to get inside my head for a few moments! SO, I had a few phrases running around and thought I'd put em down for him to see...
Hey Mike, this is the kind of stuff that runs through my ol' grey matter!

The tendrils of a future to be prod tentatively at the nexus of my change. Protectively swathed in layers of doubt, hurt and anger their touch is repulsed vehemently. But adamantly they reach again and again, gently but insistently, they scour the hardened surface for any sign of weakness. They search for even the tiniest pinholes pf humor, hope and love. With infinite care, they caress and cajole in an attempt to seduce my iron heart to open once more, to feel, to care... to hope.

A drizzle, eh?  I thought perhaps it was getting damp in here ...

This is an interesting angle on a hardened heart, and the forces who would lay siege to it.  My favorite line by far was:

"The tendrils of a future to be prod tentatively at the nexus of my change"

Interesting, though I would like to see this fleshed out a bit more ...

You sound like an intriguing person, Christopher.  Very interesting.

Yeah, this is exactly why I like what runs thrugh your head, Christopher.  You know I relate well to the iron heart, but also the vulnerability  of having one, for it is only in completely removing the metal shield that I have been able to experience the hope you speak of - or be slain on the battlefield love.  But hey, it sure beats dying in the shadows of wondering, "what if."  Be brave, Chris, you deserve experience love.

This is a wonderful description of a hard heart, I've felt near the same myself, but you have put it to words I never could have.  Excellent writing

Ouch my friend, much to familiar a read. I am a hopless romantic; yet to let myself open up that part of me is next to impossible. I am bombarded often with thoughtful ones seeking my heart. The shield has yet to crack. It seems fortified my distrust and pain. This peek into your grey matter is unnerving...lol.

We all have fear Chris and sometimes that fear causes us to harden our hearts. But if we never jump from the cliff how will we learn to soar? It may hurt when we fall, but there is someone somewhere that will pick us up, brush us off, and teach us to soar. I hope that person finds you soon Chris.
