Today, autumn stole in and broke winter's fierce grip upon the earth. As her balmy breezes and slanting sun gently touched my soul. I stopped my tasks and watched the geese flying overhead, calling out their hello's, as I waved. My heart thrilled to know where these travelers had been , and where they had to go even yet. And I longed to be one of them, crying my heart out to the moon. Telling it to stay 'neath the horizon for just a few minutes more, 'til I and my flock reached our night's repose. I longed to take wing and fly! To waft upon the wind, letting nature and God dictate my next stop. I watched until they faded into the mist that hung low over the coastal range. The mist that reminded me that though the gentle breezes and sun smiled down now. In but a moment or two, winter could rear her fierce head and overtake this beautiful day, leaving it but just a faint memory. Until the hands of fate and fortune send another respite from winter to grace my life once more.

(But I smiled even still remembering a barefoot day on the Oregon Coast in the middle of January! Knowing that days like that were rare and special, but I'd see them again. Even if I could never take flight with the geese and fly far and away. I know inside my heart there lives eternal springtime.)

You are more in touch with the actual world (nature) around you than anyone I know. Again, a very beautiful piece I found myself clearly envisioning while reading. I am so glad you found the prose forum, it does suit you well.
