f you close your eyes and let your surroundings fade out and your dreams fade in, you are immersed into a world filled with love and hope, a utopia. This is where the story takes place.

* * *

The early morning sun's rays, coming from the crack between the shutters on the window, flood the room with brilliant light. The young girl lying in the bed rises to her feet and flings the window's shutters open, taking in a deep breath of the dawn's crisp air. Below her window, is a great valley. All through the valley are trees whose brightly colored leaves are beginning to fall, leaving an orange and red blanket spread across the land as far as she can see. She rests her chin on her hands and gazes upon the beautiful scenery. Following the river that runs through the valley with her eyes until it is just barely a speck in the horizon. The young girl changes from her nightgown into a dark blue cloak that flows down past her ankles and drags on the ground behind her. She walks down the side of the valley to the bank of the river and there she sits down. Her feet slide into the cool water. The river is as clear as a crystal, she can see all of the beautiful rocks, which lay on the river's bed, glistening in the sun's resilient beams of light. She rises to her feet and lets her cloak fall to the ground. The young girl jumps into the river and bathes herself in the cool, clear water. She is happy, she is alone in her own world of hopes and dreams.

Fall has begun to settle in and as the young man approaches the girl that he recently started dating, he gives her a quick smile that seems to brighten her face. She wraps her arms around his neck and kisses his cheek, telling him of all the exciting events in her day. They walk to his car together and stop outside of it. He takes her by the hand and tells her sweet things. Sweet things to get her to smile and sweet things to let her know she is appreciated. The young girl, who is typically cautious in relationships, is beginning to lose all doubts about him, but she hasn't done so completely. She looks deep into his eyes and senses a strong feeling, it makes her body quiver all over. Why can't she figure out what it is that makes her shudder every time she stares into the never-ending depths of his eyes?

The young girl climbs on to the riverbank and retakes her seat at the edge of the water. The sun's warm rays dry her wet body and she slips her cloak over her smooth, clean skin. Off in the distance somewhere, she hears the footsteps of someone. They are coming closer to where she rests on the riverbank. She climbs to her feet and begins to walk in the direction of the sound. As she comes to a clearing in the trees, she sees a young man sitting upon a rock. He is handsome and he interests the young girl very much. She watches him as he laughs and as he cries. She sees him as he smiles and as he frowns. She is taken by the young man's habits and comes from behind the tree into the clearing. He looks up at her and smiles. "I've been looking for you", he says. She is puzzled by his remark and asks, "How is it that you have come here? This is my vision, I'm the only one who knows of this place, the only one who can come here. So tell me boy, how is it that you have come here?".

The young man and girl are walking through the park watching the children playing on the swings and the birds who are heading south. They see the squirrels that are frantically trying to gather food for the winter, bickering with each other about who had the acorn first. When they are together it seems that everyone and everything is at peace. He asks her why she seems so resistant to let go of her suspicions of him, he says that he has tried to be good to her. She is surprised at how direct he is with her and takes a second to gather her reply. She tells him that she is sorry and that she is so glad they are together. She tells him about how much it means to her to know that she is appreciated. She kisses him and grabs him tightly in her arms, clinging to his chest. They are lost at that moment, as if they are alone in their own world of hopes and dreams, and they are happy.

The young man who was sitting on the rock has now risen to his feet and taken the girl by her hand. "Aren't you happy that I am here?", he asks. "I am so happy that you are here.", she replies. She is shocked at what she has said, not realizing what it was until it had already escaped from her lips. She doesn't care though, no matter how surprise she is that she said it. She is happy that he is there. Her mind races, she can't figure out how it was that he got here. This is her place of escape and pleasure.

Sitting on a bench in the park, they hold hands and stare into the sky that has become dark and starry. "I'm waiting for you to let me in, I don't mind you're caution, I understand and I'm going to wait for you to invite me in.", the young man said, still looking onward to the heavens. "I …I...", she was at a loss for words.

After exhausting all possibilities, she sat down on the rock in the middle of the clearing with the young man and it came to her how he had come here. She invited him, she had let him in. All the sweet things he said, the happiness he brought her, it was all a part of her hopes and dreams and now, since he was the origin of such, he was too.

The ending was truly very beautiful....I liked it much, despite my propensity for looking at the down side of things.

Is there going to be more to this? It is very beautiful. A little unrealistic but beautifully romantic all the same. That is the joy of fantisy...it can be anything you wish it to become.
