I sit here in Darkness, surrounded by light, pondering my exigent morality and mortality. There are so many things I lost out on experiencing, for one reason or another. These things are my only regrets I have in my life. Granted, I have participated in some pretty outlandish and immoral things in my time, but the things I have most wanted from life have always eluded me. Now that is a paradox and then some. That I have been and done and lived things that most either view with distaste or dream of experiencing themselves is paradoxical when you understand that the opposite is true of myself. I want those common everyday things that many take for granted. Those small things that in many ways are the reward of living are exactly what I want. To be returned to walk amongst the living and then be denied it's simple and common pleasures is not only tragic but also cruelty for it's own sake. I believe that somewhere a Scriptwriter is falling into paroxysms of laughter over my plight.

I have also been reflecting on the nature of love and romance and I must tell you, that is a seriously major paradox. The very thing that you love is also the biggest reason for denying love. I love women, most all women, with a few exceptions that have chosen to be exceptions to that rule. I hate women as well, for good and valid reasons. How is it that women can fascinate and repulse with fluctuating intensity? It seems this rant is taking a tangent I had not anticipated, but so be it. I can understand readily how an individual can be attracted to the physical appearance of an individual and not the mind. If you love the mind first, does that cloud your perception of the physical when at last you do see it? Is the reaction the same for women as it is for men? Interesting questions one and all, though sadly no answer can be given that an individual will accept from another.

While we are at it, let's badger the subject of paradox to death. Here is another cosmic jest at my expense. For twelve years my writing was nonexistent (old hat, I know), mainly because I was not ever told my writing was any good. For those years I lived under a fallacy inspired by poetically ignorant individuals. Here then is the paradox; I have been a good writer all those years and all this time. Comical is it not? Insanely hysterical when viewed in the proper perspective.

Thus far, we have focused on personal paradox. We have not yet looked at paradoxes existing in the natural world such as bumblebees being incapable of flight according to our laws of physics, nor the military C-5 Galaxy aircraft which also cannot get off the ground according to those laws. We also have philosophical paradoxes such as one hand clapping and my personal favorite, Xeno's Paradox; What happens when an irresistible force collides with an immovable object? There is temporal paradox that states that the same object cannot occupy the same space at the same point in time as itself. My question of paradox is this; is paradox truly paradox or, paradoxically, is it only our perceptions that perceive paradox where there is none?

No logical progression to this piece but what do you expect of a rant? End of rant.

A mighty profound piece you have here brother. I sense that you are travelling deep in the netherlands of your soul on this eve. If you want my opinion on paradox, I shall be more than glad to relate it. However, I feel the need that this piece stand alone, as paradoxically, it binds us together.

Boggle boggle boggle - there goes my mind!!
Wow - fantastic exploration, Dream. Paradoxes keep us on our toes...keep us questioning.
They keep alert minds alive. Thank God, then, for paradox!

Well, Dream, what can I say...I had hoped to get some semblance of sleep tonight but then you get my mind all twisted up with this. You knew I would end up dwelling on this all night, huh?. This wasn't good, it was excessively good, Dream. The scriptwriter line took the cake.

In the end, life is the only true paradox.
