How can this be?

It's just past one in the morning here...I'm losing it. We would normally be together right now. I miss you, I miss your warmth and your laughter. I miss your *kisses*. I miss your smile and still I know I have never even seen you - How can this be?

I swear I've walked with you on beaches at sunset. I remember dancing with you under starlight, you were wearing a white dress. I remember you holding me while I cried. I remember you brushing the hair off my face, and you kissed me.

How is it the silence I used to bask in has become such a grating to the ears? How come nothing I do appeases me? I used to have such a tight schedule, never able to complete all I intended. Now, all I have is time - time to miss you. I am mesmerized.

The world is spinning and spinning, yet here I am, paralyzed. I cannot hope to move. I have no wish to participate. I am lost to ambition and blind to necessity, and yet I can still see your face. How can this be?

Simple my friend. You have found your other half, your soul-mate, and you are in love. Without her, your life and past are meaningless. As was said to me, enjoy the ride.

'Tis sweet ecstasy and sweeter misery, is it not?

I miss the sweet tenderness of your voice.
I miss the soft caress of your warm hand on my chest.
I miss the feel of your silken hair through my fingers.
I miss a shared gaze that spans the boundaries of time.
I miss the scent of you as you step out of the shower.
I miss the brightness of your laughter upon my soul.
Above all, I miss all the things I have yet to experience when I meet you.

-A few words of my own to mine, to echo yours Michael, since you struck a chord.

Pluck!

Short, sweet and to the point...with such gutwrenchingly (och, is that a word?) familiar feelings! Keep em coming Michael.

Oh so wonderful, so much vision you give to your poetry. It's wonderful to see an individual express the words of their heart so eloquently.

Michael, I may be wrong, but this poem seems to me, about someone you have yet to meet. If not, I'm obviously missing something. Please let me know if I'm on the right track or not.

Either way, it's drop dead gorgeous.

twinky,

Glad you liked the piece.  Although your question seems simple enough, I really do not know how to answer it.  It was written to a person I used to dream existed, and in fact needed to exist at that point in time.

I did eventually meet her, though she has different color hair and wears a much different face than the lady who I was envisioning when this was written.

This is almost ethereal. I see a gossamer tyoe figure hovering...unseen...over you.

We always long for what we don't have and fervently wish we did.  Anticipation is always better than the reality.  Rarely do we ever actually obtain something that is exactly the way we dreamed it would be.
More often than not...we are doomed to disappointment.

But oh how satisfying the journey!
