Purgatorial Incarceration

0 posted 1999-08-28 02:28 AM

Bawling eyes pry open,
it's the dawning of perception.
However unknown,
perils hover in the shadows, though the day is cast in sunshine.
Slowly, as the morning passes on,
the strange new medium is imbibed,
-a heady drought-
with lustful eagerness.
Anticipation lessens the apprehension.
But the dawn fades away,
into a sparkling brilliance of over-stimulation.
And from comprehension, condemnation is derived.
Acceleration of the day increases...
The sun's pace quickens,
time swiftly travels by.
Unknowingly,
-a joyous spirit,
-to a gloomy apparition.
The demarcation of the divagation,
unable to be seen.
Noon-time comes,
balanced on the beveled point of acceptance and rejection.
Then just a nudge past center,
-and the plunge-
toward abject resignation.
The skies darken, and bitterness,
-or madness-
reigns wholly in the heart of the descending star.
Dusk falls.
With resonant finality,
it rings throughout the heavens,
drops like a benificent shroud, sheltering weak eyes from a torturous sight.
Then finally the journey ends,
and the beauty of the night is come,
to bring eternal oblivion to the cosmos.

OI! This is a poem is it not?! Like it anyway, my ray of sunshine of words. (What's divagation?!) When are you going to produce another story like 'Boundary'? (A not so subtle hint!)

Thank you very much Severn. Actually, in response to your hint, I have been working, and am almost done with my next story... "Redman" It is due out in a week or so, barring any unforseen complications. Thank you for being interested. I love poetry, but my heart truly lies with prose.

di-va-gate: to wander; to wander or stray from a course or subject: DIVERGE, DIGRESS-di-va-ga-tion\di-va-gat-ed\di-va-gat-ing
(In this case, I used it as in "to wander from course." Meaning, the change, or evolution, or divagation, of the joyous spirit, to a gloomy apparition.)
Lesson ended for today...sorry if I strayed into your territory NAN or Brad!

Even if it's a poem, it's great.

Your biggest fan,
