Can you imagine,
loosing your heart?
Having it removed from your body?
And after your heart was taken,
you did not die,
but were left with a wound
that never healed.
Perhaps your heart
was still able to beat,
and you could feel it
no matter where you were.
Can you imagine,
having to live day to day,
knowing that your heart
was calling out to you,
growing weaker every day,
but you could not go to it,
or comfort it,
could do nothing but listen to it cry.
No, you can't imagine,
because you don't think it's possible.
But it is.
I know.
It happened to me
when I had to leave my baby girl
crying
like she hadn't cried since she was four,
in a dorm room.
700 miles from my arms.
My little beating heart
will never
ever
be the same.

Ok...I'm bawling! I had to let my little girl go off alone at 4 a.m. to join the Air Force! Hand me the kleenex! (good poem by the way!)...it will get better......(hasn't for me yet, I still cry when she's been home and has to leave).

Tears...When I left my mother at 16 it was VERY hard. A piece of her heart went with me and we still miss each other (a few years on!)

Thanks everyone. I wrote this from my mothers point of view, I'm the college student, I haven't been able to express my own feelings yet. But thank you.

Yes these can be very stressful times...letting go and not feeling needed any more and so forth...but it is a normal part of growing up...James
