Being a mother is the best thing that's EVER happened to me. It has caused me to grow so much emotionally. Having my children has changed me in ways that nothing else can. Being a mom has shown me a world that I never knew existed. It's opened my eyes to new experiences, new perspectives.

It made me find the innocence that is out there (and yes, there is still innocence out there!). I can look at some small thing, and see the potential it contains (much like imagining my little boys growing to be fine young men). I have found a strength I never knew existed inside of me. I have discovered a love so fierce it hurts. I have learned what it's like to truly love someone with every fiber of your being. To be willing to give your life, your breath for them. I know what it means to commit yourself wholly to another person, with no thought as to what you will receive in return.

I've rediscovered the magic of a starry night, the beauty in a dandelion. I can look at my yard full of weeds and see the heartwarming bouquets my little boys will pick for me. I never really appreciated the beauty in my world until I had my children to share it with. Look at the sunset. Do you really see it? Have you ever tried to explain it to your child? Everything becomes more mysterious when you try to explain to a 3 year old why it is the way it is.

Do you have children? Think back to your life before you had them. Didn't you have a limited view of the world? Seeing things through the cynical eyes of an adult? How do you see the world now? Is it full of wonder and promises? Magic and mystery? I like to think that by having them, I have given the world the best of me.

Your words ring true...children certainly are a blessing. Mine have reopened my eyes to countless things I have so long taken for granted in my adult years. Thank you for posting this.

Welcome to Passions in Prose!

Children do help us rediscover the magic in the world doing so they are a source of constant wonder themselves. Thank you, my dear.
