I recently found an old poem of mine titled Rebirth of A Nation on Poetry.com
My name is listed under the title of this poem, but at the end of it another persons name is listed with the words copyrighted 2009

Is this person breaking the law?

There is also an add stating that my poem could be purchased on a plaque, tee shirt and other items if anyone cares to do so.

Shouldn't I be entitled to any revenue generated by MY POEM?

What rights do I have and how do I go about stopping this guy Christian Watkins from doing what he is doing?

In the past I have given people permission to use my poem for school projects. Maybe i had the wool pulled over my eyes by one of them, but that won't happen again.

I went thru all the channels and had this poem copyrighted with the library of congress and the whole 9 yards right after I wrote it in 2001

Contact the website and advise them of the copyright infringment..

Address:poetry.com
1 Poetry Plaza
Owings Mills, MD 21117
Phone number: (410) 356-2000

Tell them that this person has taken your poem as his own and unless it is removed, you may have to seek legal action.

Poetry.com is a scam though..they won't give an award or anything freely - it's all if the person PAYS for it..

Infringement happens to a lot of us - it's part of the Internet culture I'm afraid...do a search on a phrase from the second line of your poems and see what comes up...

Good luck Paul. (Search here at PiP for discussions on infringement).

Sharon...Thanks so much for your help.
I tried their phone number once today, and it was busy, so I will continue trying.
I guess some people don't have any morals...Paul

Make sure that they know you've got it copyrighted, Paul.  Also, if you've got it posted here at PiP, it'll be time-dated.  That alone is your proof of authorship.  You've got everything on your side, so be persistent if you have to.  It'll work out for you in the end.. Good luck..

Nan...Thanks, it's posted in the Poetry of life Attack on America Section and also in the top 100 poems. I can't really remember but I may have posted it on the Poetry.com site but that doesn't give this person the right to put his name on it...Paul
