I am looking for a poem that I heard at a funeral last week.  I have searched all over the internet, and am now turning to a forum hoping someone can help me out!  Between my own memory, and some lines I found on another site, this is all that I have of the poem...

Go home content; though evening falls,
Day tired tines are unbent; no more the thrush or linnet calls
The twilight fades
Go home content

With work half done how be content?
My child the sun hath seen thee toil,
With sturyd back and brown arms bent
Though other hands should till this soil
Thy work is done, go home content.

I am not positive of all these lines...I do know that "Go home content" is part of the poem, and I do remember the father speaking to the son about going home though the work was not complete...The son wanted to stay because he he could still do more...

This poem was part of a funeral for someone very improtant to me, and I would like to add it to a scrapbook of poetry that I have...anyone have any ideas????

Thank you!!!!

Sorry, not from me, but it was a beautiful poem. Thank you for sharing, I am sorry about your loss.
It has the sound of long ago from some of the words used, and may be early American or English. Good luck!

Maybe you should look in to religious material being it was a funeral...just a thought
