Ok, when I look at Today's Topics, I see and know what the red, red/flapping, and manila folder icons are for...but what about the green ones?

*addendum after figuring it out*

Um...never mind. LOL
The green ones are for works that have been responded to by the originating poster.

Hmmm, well, I just came in here to ask that same question. Thanks for the answer. Could this have something to do with the unbump controversy?

Yep. Green now identifies an unbump that would have been bumped had the unbump not been implemented. Or something like that.

It should work perfectly in the forum display pages and in Today's Topics, but I'm far less sure about your Libraries. If you think about it, you'll see how difficult it is for me to test there. I'll see if I can do more testing.

Right now, there are four green folders in the first 50 topics of OP#12.

Ron....truthfully, I'm a little color blind. I kinda see the green but that after really concentrating on the screen. Can we make it a darker shade of green maybe PLEASE

Ron, I scrolled through 400 posts in open12, no green folders... nada..

Does it depend on how many colours we have set or something..

The one that was green in my passions private library isn't green anymore... of course i'm now on my home computer.

Is a darker shade of green possible, because I would sure appreciate it. I can live with this geen though

Darker doesn't work well, because it blends right into the dark blue. And any blue blends into the blue. I'll see if I can come up with either a better color or something else to distinquish it.

Well, I know I'm not having a very good day -
but PLUEEEEEZE, let's not make me color blind too !

I see NO folders other than red in Open ...
and went to Today's Topics and saw two at the very bottom that were gray/silver/whitish.

My problem or ours
?
I don't get it ... but then that's not too surprising.

well, I liked the green better, it stood out better, but if it doesn't work for some people, I guess I will get used to the light grey, its just on my screen you have to really look to distinguish them.....*shrug*

i liked the bright green ones better... *sob*... can't see that good... i'm blind, or haven't you heard? LOL *wink*

but ron! it's GREAT to have them color coded like that... i just need to get used to what i'm looking for.... i LOVE change... change is life, life is change... but *sigh*... i also like it when i can figure out what's going on, though that seems rare these days....

thanks so much for incorporating the color coding....

I see yellow...always yellow...

no reds any more...[use to see some reds now and then, in a different Navigator]

no greens,

no grays...

just yellow...

I see open folders...

I see new names....

I see a lot of frustration for moi.....

Not you Ron....not if everyone else is having a great time....

just moi....and FYI only....no more complaints....[well one, but it's a very little one....]

Ron, I know I've asked a few times, and I'm really sorry, since the new site opened all I've seen is yellow, no other colour at all. I've rebooted cleared cookies, you name it I've tried it. I know it's trivial, but I cannot see anyother colour except yellow.
I do love the new site honestly, and I thank you so much, but can i have some coloured folders please. I did send a report in, too, but I know you are exceptionally busy.
Thank you
take care
Marsha

well I have no trouble seeing anything on here..sometimes it's your browser or sometimes the colors you have set for your screen on windows...I have never had a problem..and usually it is me not seeing something since I use aol as my server *s...I do like the softer colored file though..the green was a bit too 60's for me..*s...you came through awful fast with a solution Ron..about the unbump..although I just usually go and search for the past two days entries to check out replies..and haveing 200 to a page makes it very easy..thank you
Maureen

**oh I just checked my netscape to see about the folders and it shows them all as being red..so I guess its the servers..or browsers used...maybe I need to update again..but in aol 5.0 internet explorer it works fine...

The color coding of the folders depends entirely on your cookies.

Think about it - the colors depend on what has happened since the last time you were here. And the only way Athena can know when you were last here is to read your cookies. There are, essentially, two cookies that are important - your LastLogin and your current Login date/time. When you come into the main page of the forums ( /main/Ultimate.cgi  ), the program grabs the cookies from your last visit and sets the LastLogin cookie, then it sets your current Login to right now. When you go into a forum after that, Athena looks at the last post on a thread and compares it to your LastLogin. Depending on that comparison, she gives you a yellow or red folder (or the new grey one). If your cookies aren't properly set (and they won't be with a new browser, one you use only once in a while, or a different computer) then Athena doesn't know when you were last here.

When Sunshine sent me a Trouble Ticket, I looked at her cookies and saw that her LastLogin was on 2/7/2001 and she has no current Login at all - which gets Athena completely confused. How could that happen? Chances are she has bookmarked a page other than the one I listed above. Remember, that page above is essentially the ONLY one where your cookies get properly set. You should never, ever bookmark a forum. Come to the main page first, so your cookies get set, then go into a forum.

Here's another very common problem. The main page sets your cookies, right? But you might go to the main page several times during a visit, and we don't want to change your login every time - so ALL of the internal links to the main page include a special setting. That setting is "BypassCookies=true" and it does just what it sounds like - it bypasses the setting of your cookies. If you come into the forums and browse around for a little while, then go back to the main page and bookmark it, you're going to have problems every time you use that bookmark - because your bookmark now includes the BypassCookies setting and you will never get fresh cookies again.

Short and sweet: use the URL above to enter the forums (then immediately bookmark it), on the same computer, with the same browser. Do that, and your cookies should always stay fresh.
