It might surprise you to learn that most of the web sites running the UBB software don't allow their visitors to use either HTML or graphics. There are some dangers (many of which I've managed to program out), and it's quite possible to completely mess up a page and make it unviewable. But like you, I think graphics can add dramatically to our presentation, and I think they're worth a few risks.
A couple of points, though. One, PdV, you might be a little cautious about making your entire post into a graphic. It looked really good, loaded fairly fast, but in a week or so you'll discover that doing so bars that post from using many of the features of the new software. Not a biggie, but something to consider.
Second, I am considering eliminating image tags that point to geocities. About a quarter of the time, they seem to display as broken images, and another quarter of the time they load so slowly I feel like I should get out and push them across the wires. Since Yahoo! took over Geocities, there has been nothing but problems - and I hate to see those problems bleed over into our forums.
Anyone have any thoughts on that?
