In the arms of God...

I have a question...

Is there an EASY way to resize a picture?  I have a couple pictures that an old friend sent me, but I believe that he sent me the thumbnails becaues they are pretty small.  I need to resize them, but every time I try...all I get is this massive picture with big pixels.  I am getting so frustrated.  Is there a website where it is easier to do this...or do I have to suffer and figure it out on my computer photo system?

Any advice???

The good news is that you don't have to continue suffering. Because, uh, the bad news is it can't be done.

Substantially enlarging any digital image is going to result in a severe loss of quality. A fast mainframe and good interpolation software might be able to limit that loss, but not by a great deal. When a program "stretches" two pixels farther apart, it simply has no good way to "guess" what it should put in to fill the resulting gap.

You should probably tell your friend, if possible, to send you the original images. It's much easier to shrink an image without appreciable loss in quality than it is to enlarge one.

Thanks for the response, Ron!!  Although, it wasn't the one I was hoping for...at least your right...I don't have to keep trying.  And I would have him resend them, but he no longer has them...his hard drive was wiped out not long ago     I guess I will just have to remember what they looked like in detail with my mind.

Thanks again!!
Take care ~  Becka

Though Ron is correct, I have been able to get a fairly decent enlargement on my system from some thumbnails ....

if you would like me to try, I could as well.

would be happy to help in any way ... just give me a shout!

Thanks for the replies everyone...and for offering to fix my pix.  I think I actually found someone that might have them on their computer...they just need to get it out of storage first.  So before I put either of you through all that trouble...I will just wait to see if my other friend has them.
Thanks SOOO much!!

Hugs...Becka
