I have seen plenty of attacks on my character, many assaults on my opinion, but no answers to my plea.

What am I missing in free verse?

For what little it's worth, I'm still trying to grasp it. Is there no one who can do more than attack me?

Free verse always seems to me to be a shortened verious of a short story. The "poetry" in it should flow smoothly, without rhyme, but with REASON. It really takes an effort for me to both read and write free verse, but no one should be attacked for either (1) not liking it or (2) not understanding it. There's a lot of stuff posted that I don't care for, or just don't like. Yours, I like, and I'm even getting use to your dark side. [giggle] Sorry that you've been attacked: I like the idea that we can share our thoughts without feeling maligned. Does this help? {hug}

OMIGOD! Again?????

This is a pretty worn out subject, don'tcha think? May I suggest enrolling in a free verse poetry class at your local community college? Just an idea...

Oh, and another idea! Just came to me! Instead of trying to determine the value of free verse based on the verse posted by the online poets who frequent these forums, try checking out published poets who are highly respected for their free verse work and who have been read and studied for many years. After that, pick up some Shakespeare at your local library and sit down and read for a bit.

One other suggestion:

If you don't care for freeverse and don't "get it", move on and stick with rhyme. No harm in not exploring a subject matter that does not interest you.

One other thing, please drop the martyr bit, it is rather tiresome (and that is not an "attack on your character" just an observation).
