Baby Toes You told me once that I had adorable little baby toes. And you wanted to name them and you wished I would paint them radical colors and wear rings around them and draw attention to them. I never understood that.
You used to say that I had a great body and I should wear flashy clothes so other people would appreciate it.
And once you said I had beautiful blue eyes and I should wear mascara and eyeliner and eyeshadow.
I never understood that.
One day I painted my baby toes bright pink and put little silver rings around them. I wore new sandals so you could see. And I wore a little mascara. But you didn't notice it, because you weren't looking in my eyes when you told me it was over.
I don't think there is anything to tear apart in this poem.. I really think you did a great job with it in my opinion. It was a very enjoyable read the message to me that you were already beautiful, and whoever the guy was he couldn't appreciate real beauty. Good riddens to him. Hope to see more of your poetry.
