i found heaven in her eyes
and lived there
everything i felt
was through her heart

the sun shined
melting the snowy fields
the flowers grew
amber romance in the air
everything just for us

i had to return to earth for a moment
but before i left
sliding my hand along hers
we sealed our promise with a kiss

we were hours away
but our hearts were together
the sky sometimes an ominous gray
but the sweet winds blew regardless

the winds suddenly soured
lightning crashed
as our heart ripped down in two
and the earth swallowed me whole for a year

i clawed my way back
the snow has returned
everything seems reverted
but i can still smile at the memories
memories of a different world:

there is now dirt under my nails,
and the taste of it in my mouth
will never go away
but the remembrances are worth it.

I like the power and originality of the last stanza.
