This was inspired by Kevin Rose's post in the Alley:

promises broken,
hopes stolen
with long, bony fingers
of selfishness, greed,
false presentations...

he does not allow it to fell him,
ways of the world,
he is told,
though he will have no part in it
remaining true to his tenets...

soon finding himself surrounded
by those steadfast in belief.

bony fingers attempt to touch,
though are quickly crippled
by the truth,
renewed hope,
and by promises kept.
