Vincent Van Gone confided to me
as I was walking on water at the pool --
free of my usual encumbrances, including
my socially acceptable swimsuit.
Vincent confided that he had painted
his way in and out of depression
before he finally couldn't paint
over his feelings anymore.
I told him I'd write about it,
but it was too late for me to do
anything else.  He told me he wished
he'd kept painting despite himself.
And I told him I painted his paintings
without him as best I could.  As best
as we both could believe.  He told me
to look for the unused talent he'd left
behind and see if I could put it to
further use.  I assured Vincent
that I searched for his lost talent
every time I picked up a pen.
I search now, even as I write --
and he understood.  I didn't have to
paint him a picture.  He bid me lend
an ear and listen to this last advice
before he sank to the level of swimming:
paint the likeness of love but don't
be surprised if you're unable to walk
on water when you're finished.

Marq:

Just a bump to the top.  I'm out of time now but hope to be able to take a closer look a little later.

marq - wow, this is a neat one.  but...its very very prosaic.  all sentences if you know what i mean.  im just saying, (and were talking personal prefrences here) that i would prefer it pared down with a little imagery.   just a thought
luv Elyse
