The half-moon reflecting on the water
illuminates my imagination.  Demons dart
from tree to tree -- peek from behind bushes
and boulders.  Tease the corners of my eyes,
play mischief with my moods, seek the secret place
hidden deep within me that no one is to find.
I need these thoughts to fill my books.
How well it works to share the woods with demons
for as long as it takes to hear them out --
or at least until their teasing
sends me back to my desk.

hi marq!   i like your idea here, and the part with the forrest and the lake.  or i guess i just assumed lake.  anyway.  the only thing is, im picturing this forrest with this lake in it and that's your mind, so then when you bring in the actual eyes, it seems a little out of place.  i cant really picture actual eyes existing in this wood.  but that's just me after all.  feel free as always to ignore

I've read this before but can't remember what I said about it. Oh well, if I'm inconsistent, I'm inconsistent. I like the movement presented here but think the whole image should be teased out more, make it longer. I think you also need to develop the demons a bit more, describe them even as you imagine them out of the corner of your eye or something.

In other words, I want more of this image.
