I melt for men with stilted speech
An accent lover to the one
I'll never be beyond their reach
I melt for men with stilted speech
Nor matters where your native beach
if you exotically intone -
I melt for men with stilted speech
An accent lover to the bone

Hola senorita Elyse,

How have you have converged on my very aspirations?  I just posted a poem about the city of Sevilla in Spain.
I can see you dreaming of escape like the Count of Monte Cristo. A word of warning lest your illusions be shattered - don't learn the lingo too well - while walking the lemon streets of Paris hearing meledodic accents you don't want to know they are actually bickering about money or what have you.  Damn I'm bitter.  Just ignore it and head off to Europe somehow.  Do it! You'll have so many exotic suiters swarming over you over there you won't know what to do with yourself.  Oh yeah, as for the 'form' of the poem theres nothing I can think of to change.
Adios, Tim

i know why my dad keeps me out of europe: money.  i thought that this was a delightful
little poem.  i too have a penchant for men with accents... even if they're fake.
i don't really understand the format here for this type of poem, but it seems like the whole thing flows together nicely.  good work.

Does it count if you are a man with a hairlip?

I always enjoy your poems.

=) thanx everyone!

yeshujah - never fear, i couldnt find my cape

tim - dont worry, i only speak spanish, and those accents are so sexy, they could read the phone book and i would be rapt

roxane - girl after my own heart!  these horrible things are called troilets, and pete started it, and writing troilets is the new thing here i reckon     its just that, for me at least, i kept thinking, hmm, how neat a new form, and trying to use it...but it wouldnt work and it drove me crazy.  maybe its best if you never learn about them and never contract Troilet Fever

philip - of course brits are exotic!  im sure you've noticed the American fascination with the english accent.  its very nice.  Maybe not so sexy as an Irish brouge, but still way up there

james - you've got a harelip?  hold me back!  hamanahamanahamana!

luv Elyse

Absolutely delightful...

I've often said Gerard Depardeau would be nothing without his accent... imagine him with a southern alabama accent and if his name was Bubba?  who'd give a damn? lol

nicely done

Great Elyse,

Glad you finally made it. BTW, with a little effort (really a lot) I can probably speak a little German, with an Okie accent. Or would natural Okie satisfy your qualifications?

Sorry to be the one to point it out but you appear to have a small typo in line 2. It looks like "one" should be "bone", but that is a small one   Other than that, it appears to be perfect. And I must admit to being as fascinated as all the others who have responded.

Well done, m'dear

Very nice Elyse and look at all the suitors
you have. The world awaits you and I guess
since your from the south my hillbilly accent
won't impress you. It's such a cruel world.
Alas...

forrest

Hey accents give me the hots too lol

Also, I know from personal experience that a lot of guys go wild over the English accent (ahem!! No such thing as a BRITISH accent lol)

I have no idea what a troilet is as I know so little about poetry, but I do know I like this.

Hey there Elyse

WOW, do I have a lot of catching up to do!!!

I have no idea what a "toilet" sorry "troilet" LOL, couldn't resist   it's the accent you know.

I like it and it's true LOL...that's exactly why I keep my daughters out of Europe

Forrest, Pete, Philip and Tim...your all shameless flirts LOL...did it work Elyse

Of course, foreign accents an be quite seductive if they're attached to the right person...then there's those bedroom accents, as long as the lights are out...everything SOUNDS good LOL

Elyse:

Cute t-r-i-o-l-e-t.  I can't say I have an accent but my car is imported and I bathe daily (more than we can say for the French, eh Philip?).     And I can pull off a convincing southern draw (spent some years in NC). I think you did a good job with this t-r-i-o-l-e-t.  I look forward to reading your next T-R-I-O-L-E-T.

Later.

Jim

hi everyone!  please be forewarned that all shameless flirting will be responded to with gleeful reciprocation

local rebel - thanx for the kind words.  im glad you understand my little, um, let's call it a "thing"

pete - a typo?????  NO!!!!!!!!  grrrrrr.  oh well.  just talk to me in your Okie accent and everything will seem ok

forrest - sadly no, i cant hear southern accents really, since i have one myself.  but you could do a fake one and that'd be almost as good

Clara -   did i say british accent? silly me.  i know better.  and thanx for sayin such sweet things

debbie -    nice to hear from you grandma!    i reserve commenting on the effectiveness of the flirting here descharged until more, uh, evidence is gathered      it is funny how different things sound in the dark, isnt it?

jim - thank you for praising my t-r-o-i-l-e-t.    alas, i live in NC, and therefore would barely be able to detect your accent.  (sniff sniff)  nono, its ok, im coping.

luv to all, Elyse
