I can feel the cool breeze around me.
I can hear the plane in the air.
As the cars go by,
I see debris fly
and I know that they just do not care.

*chorus*
I don't want the world to know me,
'cause I don't think that they'd even see..
that my spirit wasn't always broken
and I'd give anything to be free.
Yes, I'd give anything to be free.
***********

So I sit around watchin' T.V.
'cause I'm not sure just where to begin.
And I'll chug down some rye
in the blink of an eye,
then I'll pour me a glass full of gin.

*chorus*

Now, I don't want your handful of pity, and I don't want your damn outstrecthed hand.
'Cause I know you don't care
and life isn't fair.
And I don't wanna meet your demands.

*chorus*

(this song was written 8/31/99. it was inspired by a friend of mine, for his band. His 2 favorite alcohlic drinks are gin and rye.. see if you can name that tune..i had it stuck in my head when I wrote the song.)

Abigail,

Thesong that I was thinking of when I got to the "rye" line was "Bye,Bye,Miss American Pie"(not sure if that's the actual title )
I can't get out of my head now!
I like this Abigail...I think the lyrics are exellent.Thanks...

Hawk

Hawk, I don't hear it as Don McLean's "American Pie".

Abagail, sounds more to me like Goo Goo Dolls "Iris".

"And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everthing's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am"

Reckon it'd make a good song nonetheless. (Oops - is that archaic?)

It's never too late to have a happy childhood ...

OK..ok...it was a shot in the dark...
"Good ole boys drinkin whiskey and rye..."
I guess I was thinking a little too generaly.
I can see the comparison to "Iris" now...any consellation prize for playing?
