just asking...

is there no silence left,
no comforting calm to ease the pain,
is there no place untouched,
no emotion I have long forgoten,
will there be no restitution,
has the blood of war become a stain

is God aware of His whims,
am I to be cast aside for better things,
when should I expire hope,
should it be unconcious and unheard,
in Heaven's kingdom will I fly,
what happens to Angels who lose their wings

just asking...< !signature-->

"An angel who's lost his wings"--that sounds like me. Fortunately I'm still an angel, just can't fly as well.  One thing I've long wondered...

When a natural disaster happens, they call it "an act of God," but then they ask us all to pray (presumably to God) for the victims of the thing He did (or at least failed to prevent).  It puzzles me, and I have no answers, just questions.

Perhaps I should go to Radio Shack.  They advertise, "You've got questions, We've got answers."

I like poems like this that ask questions. My favorite poet is Stephen Crane.  He asks a lot of questions.  His surviving poetry is so slim that a person can read it easily in one sitting.

Hawk,
I don't know if this was your intended meaning, but I get a picture of a vet who has killed in a war, and still greatly regrets taking human life even if it was for the supposed good of the country. He seems to be wondering if this "mortal sin" will be forgiven, or if he should give up on the hope that it will.  I can feel that his resignation is near.
Good work, Hawk
