a perfect circle
drawn by my mothers hand before i was born
kept safe in the dresser drawer
didn't know that when i turned four
I would find that perfect cirle
and with my purple crayon
turn it into a lopsided square
to be kept in the old dresser drawer
and wait for time to turn

What is the "perfect circle"? At first I thought it was a wedding ring, but the purple crayon thing doesn't fit with that. Sorry, but I don't get this one. Please, explain?

My poem A perfect circle is about just that. A perfect circle drawn by my mothers hand means that my mother drew a perfectly round circle before I was born. SHe was so proud of it that she hid her drawing in the dresser drawer. Then I was born and grew up and one day I found that perfect cirlce. And as a child would do, I took my favorite crayon and scribbled over her circle, turning it into a lopsidded square. I was so proud of my drawing I hid it where I found it, and there it will sit until my child finds it and so on...
