The laughter of children
who laugh
for no reason
reminds me
I have forgotten
how to giggle rightly.

I laugh in moments of desperation,
when not to laugh would insult,
when it seems better
then tears,
to fill up empty spaces
in conversations
or at off-color jokes
that I don't get.

I find no reason to laugh
for no reason,
I'm sorry to say
I have forgotton how
to giggle rightly.
