The day that the rain came the bells were tolling,
"To safty, to safty, to the hills you must run";
And down in the dale a mother was calling,
"Run children, run children, to the hills you must run!".
The oceans rose and the rain kept falling,
It flooded the shores, to the hills we must run,
The rich and the poor in arms each were falling
And the bells kept on tolling, "to the hills everyone".
And up in the hills the bells no more tolling,
The rain kept on falling and nowhere to run,
"Climb higher, climb higher", the people were calling,
Climb up to the top, there's nowhere to run".
But one by one the people kept falling,
The water kept rising, the hills overrun;
And up on the apex the last man was calling,
"God why have you done this? I've nowhere to run".

But the rain kept on falling and drowned out his calling;
And drowned all and all and then there where none.
Then bells started tolling and out came the sun.

I liked this so much. It's actually almost a pretty picture of all those people struggling not to drown.

I like this one. You have created a mythic style that fits nicely with the theme (and how much more mythic can you get then a flood?). The repetitions create a juggernaut effect on the reader like pouring sheets of rain (no, I'm not joking, I really mean that).

(facetious)Question: if everybody drowns in the flood who wrote the poem?
