I will “tip my hat to the lady”
For that is the cowboy way.
I open the door for my elders-
Old fashioned, some people would say.

But courtesy isn’t that costly-
It may wear just a bit on your pride-
Just the way that my parents raised me-
And those childhood manners abide.

I try to be kind to young children-
Pay attention to what they have to say-
Remember that they’re people also-
And maybe they’ll listen some day.

To an old man whose youth is behind him-
To a lifestyle that is very near gone…
Maybe they’ll tip a hat to the lady-
Perhaps etiquette will live on.

I sure hope etiquette lives on and is appreciated somewhere.  I miss the days it was actually promoted.

Well done, my friend.

I edited your email out of your reply there.  Forgive me, just wasn't sure you wanted it permanently visible. Please smack me if I overstepped.
