Fair to middlin' of nowhere

When you get to that point
of realization that
you are just
putting in your time,
day after day,
one foot in front
of the other
and breathe,
waiting for the last day
to set you free,
Your steps take on
a trudge.
One fatalistic step
after another
into your future.
However,
It is not out of the
realm of possibilities
for something to occur
of epidemic proportion
to change your perspective.
from waiting to wanting.
Seeing that your time
could come much sooner
than expected,
you suddenly want those days.
You want to live
at least long enough
to find your bucket
and do something on the list
before it's too late.
When you do find your bucket,
you see it has begun to fill
with hope.
Hope changes your steps
from a trudge to strut
as you pick up pieces
of forgotten self esteem.
Hope reminds you,
you once had a dream,
a dream still within reach.
The waiting turned wanting
has found its purpose
and calling.

Glad to see you posting Lori.  Sad the perspective is so bleak, but I sit right where you are on this.  Fact is, it didn't take the pandemic to get me there, but I surely don't see what affects happening the the rest of the world.  Lets hope we find some better days before the we see the last of them.

Still waiting, but still hopeful. It actually took reading this to remember that I have the hope. Enjoyed!
