Wayfarer’s Curse

Wayfaring soul, unto nowhere
I drift upon oceans untamed.
Dragon song, within me burning,
I ride the fires of discourse, shamed.
And on the whole, when I get there,
‘Know answers drawn will implicate;
(Believing wrong, if would be fair),
That man might direct his own fate.

And so the flotsam I’ve become,
Tossed time ‘again, from wave to wave,
Beleaguered now, so cold—so numb,
‘Wonder has this become my grave?
To ne’er set foot to solid ground,
Breathe deep the sun, step out the mists.
From nowhere to forever, bound,
The curse of destiny persists!

No stars to light up the night sky,
Oh, seafaring brothers rejoice.
I’ll take the loss, and not ask why,
For what in life yet comes by choice?
Storm well in hand, the blade been drawn—
Wind in my face, I ride the swells.
Not merely fate stumbled upon,
But just the first of many hells.

And I will touch them all I know.
This much, will alone preordains.
The earth shall burn, the skies shall glow,
I’ll face it all, a man in chains…
…As blistered skin begins to peel.
…As tortured mind slips towards the brink.
…As heart tempers to a fine steel,
Till God Himself severs the link.

Michael...A very eerie tale of a wanderer
looking for absolution and accepting responsibility for his wrong doings and God breaks the chains that keep him here on earth so he is set free of his earthly boundaries
Excuse my ramblings. I really enjoyed reading this...Paul

Very dark, but also very eloquent, Michael. I particularly liked:

No stars to light up the night sky,
Oh, seafaring brothers rejoice.
I’ll take the loss, and not ask why,
For what in life yet comes by choice?

Such passion in this write,
building to the crescendo in the close.

This was an intense read, and was thinking we all have walked this realm before...and for me appreciated the pain of it all, knowing full well that something good comes out of all things...
self examination, the building block of change....

wonderful write and read....thank you

I'm glad you enjoyed, Paul.  We will continue on in our strife and struggles.  Only God has the power end it I truly believe.

LeeJ, I thank you for your insightful words.  I do believe good is capable of coming from all things, no mater how painful, if we do take the time to examine them and apply the necessary change you speak of.  Glad you enjoyed.
