Fair to middlin' of nowhere

The candle is burning,
at both ends it seems.
Life growing shorter,
like daylight in winter.
A natural occurrence
in the cycle of things.
Yet, we bargain and rage
for more time.
Time for one more conversation,
one more hug,
one more kiss.
Once more to hold a hand
and watch the sun rise or set.
