In need of something on the lighter side,
Hoping this takes you back to your very 1st kiss,
please feel welcome to share..

Innocence of Hollyhocks~

First blooms
take me back
to plantings
of old-fashioned
hollyhocks,
tall as cornstalks,
fragrant with a
clandestine
first kiss
from Ronnie's lips.

Hidden,
Hushed,
and Blushed,
too young to be
this romantic,
I walked away
with a smile,
and a large pink
blossom in my hair.

What became of him,
I never heard,
I'd like to think
he has a side-yard
of hollyhocks,
and someone to kiss
with first blooms.

A very sweet write here! It definitely put me in mind of my own first kiss. Thank you.

oh, and now I'm Googling hollyhocks because I'm sure I've never seen these flowers you describe so beautifully.

Thought long and hard...the very, very first one was in a dark, almost perfectly square wine cellar being built in a friends backyard.  Walls and floor were all dirt... was a project still under excavation.  We had six preteens who had snuck down there and were playing some truth or dare.  Michelle Bucktail was her name.  Thought we were supposed to be in love after that, but we were both painfully shy. We rarely spoke again

Hello...Hello....
Feel like there's an echo in here.

Enjoyed your 1st kiss memory Michael,
isn't it funny how we remember their full name,& the details, I remember the sun was shining so bright & warm..& I didn't know whether to close my eyes right away..or leave them open till the last second. LOL
Thanks for sharing..
