Collection

I throw the poems in the drawer,
My collection of nevermore.
The untimely, sequestered dance
Of lost dream and forgotten chance.
The unseemly steps one must take
In this life simply to partake…
Unrelegated sorrows and
The unheard whispers of the damned.

If nowhere is intention safe,
I wonder of Pretension’s face?
When the moon sets in the sky, full,
Who am I to forsake the pull?
When Sorrow sweeps the night of dream,
With Silence a harrowing scream—
A welling, yet to be cried tear,
How is it that I find peace here?

In aftermath of hopes once held—
Creed left to die, ambitions felled.
The very core of a man shaken,
Principle easily forsaken.
I ride the dark, embrace the night
On wings of emptiness take flight.
A man beheld of little worth,
Falling from the face of the earth.

The pitch-black draw off my reflection
To eyes cast in my direction,
A startled squint, an echo’s fade.
A testament to life unmade—
To dream long dead—to chance undone—
To a never arising sun.
Eternal night stirred through its core,
I throw the poems in the drawer.

Michael...Sometime what comes out of that drawer is sort of like a Cajun gumbo , a little this, a little that and it taste great, just like this poem blends together to make one real good poem that leaves the reader wanting more. Enjoyed my friend and keep that drawer open...Paul

I am glad you enjoyed the taste of this "gumbo" Paul.  Indeed, there were a lot of flavors here.  Really just the impressions all my unposted or unfinished poem I went through the other night left on me.  If I couldn't post them...amybe I could at least post a different poem about them?  A consolation prize for them.

Sky~, You honor me with your words.  They mean much coming from someone who is so adept at moving people with words. Thank you.
