At a time when the earth
was as quiet as a nun
but for the rising birds
that blocked out the sun
as they rose from the marshland
to the endless sky.
From my place in the future
I watch them fly.
Through a door in my mind
left slightly ajar
between my cluttered world
and this scene from afar.

A vision from long ago,
almost as ancient as earth time,
yet as sharp and clear as yesterday
it lingers in my mind.
I cannot see the face
turned toward the sky.
I do not know the place
where these lush marshlands lie.
But the memory is alive with a power
that defies both death and time.
This one majestic moment
is the jewel of many lifetimes.

The imagery here is beautiful...and it's not so much the marshlands I speak of, but the transference of mind and conscientiousness from the present to a place in the past you can recall so vividly. That is a beautiful thing.  Something real special about that place I would think.

I'm getting hints at reincarnation here. Am I wrong? I ask because I have memories sometimes that I'm not sure are entirely mine. They come in dreams and they feel so familiar at times. I'm glad I came in tonight.

You are very perceptive, Temptress. I have always had visions of what I feel are other lifetimes. Thank you for your input.
