The Master and the Student
By Paul Wilson

Pawns in this game of chess
Common folks don’t have a chance
Played by the master of the game
Just a matter of circumstance

He watches your every move
Ready to pounce if you are weak
Never count him out he can change
His mind seven days a week

The master of disguise never one
To compromise his deal making
Revolving door always turning
Best moves can be earthshaking

Keeping up with the latest trends
Always playing the leading role
Give him an inch he will crush you
This his ultimate goal

Born with the power common folks lack
Taught by his father moves to make
He knows all the right pieces to take
He thinks he can’t make a mistake

The clock is ticking
One more move to make
He’s running out of time
One more deal left to make

The master has the edge
In this game played with real lives
The student has one more move to make
Time will tell who survives

Who will win this game of pawns?
The master of the deal
Or the student he couldn’t outsmart
Only the future will reveal

Poet Paul, I'm not sure if this politically
driven, or not, but it is definitely
Clever.

Sky...Thank you for taking time to read and reply I appreciate it. We must all decide and make up our minds what we want. I wouldn't want to make to big of a political statement I might ruffle some feathers. The choice how you read this yours...Paul

rofl...heaven forbid there be any ruffling of feathers, Paul.

Now then, I taught my son how to play chess when he was like 10...by the time he was 16 he was graduating high school he was beating me most of the time.  He far outclasses me today.  Not that this had anything to do with the poem...at all, but I thank you for stirring up the memory.

When you think you can't be beaten, you've already set your self up for defeat.  This much I know.

Michael...Loved your reply. I don't know the first thing about chess, but I play a mean game of Texas Hold-em.

Those kids today sure pick up things fast  after we teach them they kick our ass.

Ruffled feathers sometimes make enemies and I don't need any of those. LOL

Maybe we need a political section here???

Thanks for the read and laugh...Paul

WOW! That's a lot of dealing making, playing games and outsmarting. Loved this. I see you tipping your hat at the ending of this.
