Ring The Moon 4Th Of July~

Froth of a ringed moon,
hazy and undulating,
like cats lapping cream
we were all aglow in the belly,
Excited..
these were metallic nights,
silver etchings plume,
and bloom
across a dark crackle sky,
tiny flecks of golden conversation, glorious gasps,
birthing memories of luster
held against the cheek
for a rainy day.
A whiff of sulfur
as steamy Summer spoke to us,
while we applauded the spectacle above.

June-bugs in July,
ponytail's,
lips that taste of watermelon,
I still love to watch the small yard flags
salute in the wind,
and I catch your eyes staring ten again,
as old prayers
chase bottle-rockets
whistling to heaven..

Your writing always makes me realize just how much I rush and rush in my life, and all the little things I am sure I miss because of it.  Gonna spend some quality time with my grandchildren this 4th, and try to see it through their eyes with them.  Thank you, J.

I'm blown away here. This is stunning!! I miss these times. You've brought the taste of treasured memories and I thank you for that. Are you published? You should be! What I wouldn't give for my hands and eyes to be full of a bound collection of your writing!

Contaminating everything"

Very evocative, a jolt for half forgotten memories.
