Go Zombie

Went camping Friday –
I know, I know,
stay in place, wear your mask
six feet (no matter what you want from him or her),
wife in my case, female kind . . . Stay Apart!
My God,
all us sinners are supposed to become Saints!
Like our congressmen, or women, or whatever.
I mean, have you seen any of them wearing masks?
Have you been notified of the pay cuts they’re taking?
Or the suffering they’re doing, confined to just their ‘house’?
Well, I haven’t and that’s really not what this is about anyway
(we all have our frustration level don’t we?).

This is about my camping trip,
my trying to get my sanity back,
and this damnable rabbit
that fired up the Zombie in me.

We (family and I) went camping Friday!
And what a pleasure it was
to be out in the woods (campground of course)
communing with nothing
but mother nature, in all her splendor.
We thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon,
the evening – yeah, you guessed it –
roasting marshmellows
over the firepit,
until we could hardly hold our eyelids open.
And then we laid our sleeping bags
on the ground around the firepit –
it was a wonderful 69 degrees –
and all but passed out.

About dawn, when a wee bit of light
was just hitting the tops of the trees,
I was awakened by a thumping on my chest,
slowly, but firmly, and then faster and faster –
I thought I was having a heart-attack –
and just as it stopped,
I felt an almost hot fluid just above
my sternum,
then running down over my ribs.

I leaped to my feet, slashing at this thing
that was trying it’s damndest to make me
it’s new drumming log and territory marker.
I got both my hands on it
and ripped and tore and bit that S.O.B.
with every iota of Zombie
it had brought to life.

I massacred it! And I felt good!
It did so much for all the cor-this, co-that
frustration I’d built up.

So I recommend to all of you . . . hee, hee,
take a camping trip, sleep in the open,
put carrots or something on your chest
to entice one of those little S.O.B.s
and go . . .

ZOMBIE!

I can see all of this right up to the waking up and the retribution suffered by the woodland creature. I love the way you tell this story. It made me laugh. Thank you.  I needed a laugh today.

We have to wear face masks at work now... and heaven forbid we  have to be transported somewhere in one of their offroad buggies, then we ha we to wear a plastic face shield attached to our hard hats over the facemask.  It's maddening.

Thanx for the smiles James.

Jwesley - Hey! I was just at the store where the carrots were on special. I'm heading back right now. Thanks JW for the reminder and I most enjoyed. Namyh
